South Asian SOAR
(Survivors and Organizations in Alliance and Rising)

Picture
www.southasiansoar.org
South Asian SOAR is a collective of survivors, organizations, and allies unified in a movement to end gender-based violence in the South Asian diaspora.

We believe that everyone has a role in changing the systems and culture that breed abuse, violence, and oppression. SOAR exists to unify survivors, organizations, and allies — all those who dare to claim the sky.

Together, we weave, nurture, and boldly advance our movement because we know that our stories need to be told and our voices need to be heard.

Our mission is to grow our collective power to transform ourselves, our culture, and our systems.

We will reimagine culture, policies, narratives, and systems as we collectively create the world we want to see.

Our vision is joy, healing, and justice for all South Asian survivors and communities.

THE RAMESH AND KALPANA BHATIA FAMILY FOUNDATION
IS THE  FOUNDING SEED SUPPORTER FOR SOUTH ASIAN SOAR

Together We Rise: Voices from the Frontlines of
South Asian Gender-Based Violence Work

We are proud to support the incredible work of SOAR and their network of 30+ frontline organizations across 13 states. This comprehensive report began in the summer of 2021 to listen, learn, react and help to enact change. SOAR's leadership along with their colleagues and allies convened listening sessions and conversations elucidated the complex, nuanced, and often overlooked, challenges and needs of South Asian survivors and communities in the US.
